The East Austin Studio Tour is now in its fifth year, and has become increasingly more popular with both Austin artists and the community. East Austin is a diverse neighborhood, home to many of the city’s artists, and is historically and culturally significant in many respects. For one weekend every November, artists all over East Austin open up their studios to the community. This is a chance for the public to get a look behind the scenes of working artists’ spaces and processes, as well as fostering dialogue between artists and viewers. At its peak, the tour has had 121 participating artists, 8,000 touring visitors and a distribution of 6,000 catalogs and tour maps each.
