Three Purses, Yellow Grass, 2020, Acrylic, graphite, Prismacolor on cotton rag, 22 x 30”

Describe your artistic style in three words.
Intuitive, emotional, pretty-ugly.

What's inspiring you right now?
Artist Features on Big Medium are inspiring. I love how resourceful the artists are.

What do you do when you're feeling uninspired?
Paint anyway. Work is a good distraction, plus there's money. Go roller skating...helps everything and hatha yin yoga. Go outdoors. Do something analog. Take a class when very blocked.

Tell us something unique about your process.
I don't know what I'm going to do before I start. Sometimes I do, but mostly I don't. Never heard anyone in an art lecture say that.

What advice do you have for other artists?
Keep going. Moms, single parents, don't give up. Do whatever you can. Art is for you. You are for art. Parenting is temporary. Enjoy the chaos of family while it lasts.

C Gunter seeks her edges daily with acrylic, graphite and prismacolor on paper, canvas and wood; though found objects and anything smashed in the street may end up in a piece. Gunter paints her feelings because it’s better for everyone. (b. Corpus Christi, TX) BFA Studio Art; UT Austin.
