TOGETHER AS ONE, 2020, Charcoal, graphite and pen on paper, 12 x 16”

Describe your artistic style in three words.
minimal, precise, balanced

What's inspiring you right now?
Zen gardens, water and the concept of unity and wholeness.

What do you do when you're feeling uninspired?
I spend a lot of time outdoors doing different activities and observing nature while trying to find my center.

Tell us something unique about your process.
I need to mentally visualize each piece and focus on the feeling I get as ideas come together. If the idea feels right I start by measuring everything out with a ruler to ensure complete balance between the negative and positive space within the piece.

What advice do you have for other artists?
Listen to your creative intuition.

Austin, Texas based artist Parker Thornton seeks to find a balance between nature and geometric shapes. The natural elements paired with the geometric elements found in his work, resemble a world where nature is able to flourish in harmony with the human-made structures we see to exist today.
