Andrew Anderson
Describe your artistic style in three words.
Color, surface and tension
What's inspiring you right now?
My recent visit to the Kinder Building at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The collection of modern and contemporary art housed there is awe-inspiring.
What do you do when you're feeling uninspired?
Work in my garden with my headphones on much too loud.
Tell us something unique about your process.
I often hold on to incomplete paintings for years before I can find a solution to resolve them.
What advice do you have for other artists?
It's a marathon, not a sprint, and network, network, network. Your network will keep you afloat during lean years.
Andrew Anderson was born in Mexico City to an American father, a Panamanian mother, and raised in Katy, TX. Andrew earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting from The University of Texas. He is now a practicing artist in Austin focused on investigating reductive aesthetics.
