Exhibition Support

Big Medium supports artists in equitable and inclusive platforms to explore their practice and advance their careers.

Our programmatic efforts highlight the wealth of artistic talent of Austin and throughout the state. Our 2024-2026 programming season has the potential to create critical financial impact for artists, remove economic barriers, support the creation of new work, and engage the public in meaningful and innovative art experiences both locally and state-wide. We strive to continue our ongoing legacy as an organization that fuels the artistic narrative of Texas and further cultivates the multidimensional cultural identity of our country.

The Big Medium Gallery was created with the purpose of encouraging experimentation, artistic expression, and community engagement. Big Medium provides professional support and works in partnership with each artist to ensure successful planning, installation, and promotion of all exhibitions in order to cultivate, implement, and realize the artist’s vision.

Addressing Austin’s urgent need for a healthier art ecosystem

Big Medium’s recent move to a new location was inspired by the urgent need for more affordable space for artists to create and exhibit their work with a focus on supporting artists through equitable and inclusive platforms, fostering their creative practice, and advancing their careers.

Impact

Gallery Expansion:

Construction of five new galleries run by people of color, including Big Medium’s expanded new space of 3,852 sq ft. (tripling our previous gallery presence).
Creation of new mid-sized high-caliber gallery spaces, facilitating larger and higher profile exhibitions to attract new talent and support local artists in advancing their careers.
Host a new art complex that serves and attracts diverse audiences, fostering community engagement and awareness.

Exhibitions Budget Increase- $72,000:

Increase exhibition support from $3,000 to $9,000 per exhibition. This increase will allow us to attract new talent and present larger more impactful exhibitions.
Big Medium will host 12 exhibitions in our new space over the next two years. Growing our gallery budget by $6,000 per exhibition.

Levels of Support

Exhibition Sponsor - $10,000

Donors at this level will be recognized on checklists, website, newsletter, and social media.
Donors at this level have access to a special visit with a small group of their guests, hosted by the curator and artist(s) if available.

Gallery Donor - $25,000

Donors at this level will have the option to add their name or logo to four exhibition titles at Big Medium’s gallery, plus all the Exhibition Sponsor perks.

Major Donor - $50,000

Donors at this level will have the option to host an event at the gallery space with up to 50 guests, with the Directors, and artist(s) if available.
Up to 5 guided visits to donors and guests per show, and all Gallery Donor perks.

Space Benefactor - $100,000

Donors at this level will have the option to name the Big Medium gallery in their honor, plus all Gallery Donor perks for a full year and 12 exhibitions.
