Maia Snow
Describe your artistic style in three words.
Lonesome, freaky, freak
What's inspiring you right now?
Longing. Loss. Feeling sorry for myself- and my friends. End of the world. Sad beauty. Missing my boo. Missing in general. Reminiscing. My Natasha. My Russian upbringing. My non(full)manliness, (difference between Maine and Texas light) Light in general. Also love, I believe in it tirelessly.
What do you do when you're feeling uninspired?
Read and make poems. Play accordion and or guitar. Sing Blaze and Town songs.
Tell us something unique about your process.
When I mix my palette I can only listen to classical or music that has no words. It's too distracting. I try to give my color its own freedom in terms of developing a pallet into what it wants to be rather than me controlling it. Once the palette is mixed, I then often put on Drake, Kendrick, or 21 Savage to get the party started.
What advice do you have for other artists?
To show up. Putting in the time in the studio, even if you are not making something. Having a space where your brain is able to be fully absorbed in the thinking and process of making is everything.
