In Fractured Times Kevin explores the big sense of loss he was feeling during the residency at The Line Hotel. Physical injury, heartbreak, and loss of his childhood home were all things he dealt with during his 2 months of residency. However, Kevin still found ways to create art and even found new connections and friendships that will shape his creativity moving forward

Kevin Muñoz is a self-taught artist who works in a folk realm of warm colors and loose textures to explore concepts of identity, longing, and growth. His design background informs his practice as does his upbringing in Southern California to Guatemalan parents. He currently lives in Austin, Texas.

The LINE Residency is an artist-in-residence program produced by Big Medium in partnership with the LINE Austin. Artists selected for the residency program will have access to a private studio space within the LINE Austin, located in the heart of downtown Austin overlooking Lady Bird Lake. In a city where art spaces are disappearing, Big Medium sees this as an innovative way to address a critical issue with a partner that is similarly committed to nurturing the art community. The residency program is a six-week opportunity for local artists to experiment and create in a new environment.
