"Time Rooted in Place" encapsulates Molly Sydnor's daily art meditations and her unique practice of experiencing life as art. Throughout her residency, Molly has immersed herself in the vibrant culture of Austin, attentively observing the city and actively participating in various events. By living in the moment and being fully present, Molly has opened herself to new artistic endeavors, allowing her creativity to flourish.
Central to the event is an interactive element inviting guests and attendees to contribute to Molly's artistic process. In line with her practice of collecting objects, attendees are encouraged to bring a found, fun, or memorable object that holds personal significance. These objects can be anything from something that drew your attention on a walk, something you found in a thrifted jean pocket, or even a piece of a cup you might have broken on your way to the event! These (SMALL) items will be incorporated into Molly's art-making, enabling her to create still-life compositions and explore other artistic expressions. It offers a unique opportunity to discover the power of living as art and become part of a vibrant artistic community.

The LINE Residency is an artist-in-residence program produced by Big Medium in partnership with the LINE Austin. Artists selected for the residency program will have access to a private studio space within the LINE Austin, located in the heart of downtown Austin overlooking Lady Bird Lake. In a city where art spaces are disappearing, Big Medium sees this as an innovative way to address a critical issue with a partner that is similarly committed to nurturing the art community. The residency program is a six-week opportunity for local artists to experiment and create in a new environment.
