Art in the Garden
Have you ever thought about approaching a museum that is not art-centric? Have you considered taking your art outside? March's Creative Standard workshop, Art in the Garden, covered a very brief history of art in garden spaces, exploring the connection between natural and cultivated gardens with various forms of art.
Dawn E. Hewitt is the Director of Community Engagement at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin, coming from just up the road at UT’s Blanton Museum of Art. While at the Blanton, Dawn was integral to planning and executing the many events surrounding the opening of Ellsworth Kelly’s Austin. Prior to joining the Blanton Museum, she worked in nonprofit focusing on development, marketing and events including exhibitions, auctions and arts programs. In 2015, she co-founded ARTiculation, an Austin based artist collective where Dawn focused on logistics and curation of group shows. Dawn is also an Adjunct, Assistant Professor at Austin Community College, teaching art appreciation, and is offering a summer of 2022 study abroad in Vienna, Austria.
