Big Medium is pleased to present the inaugural Tito's Prize Exhibition featuring winner Zack Ingram. Big Medium partnered with Tito's Handmade Vodka to create the $15,000 award to help grow the recipient’s artistic career, support their life in Austin, and elevate artists, like Ingram, within the community.

Ingram was unanimously selected by a four person curatorial panel, including Ana Esteve Llorens, artist; Joseph Havel, Director of the Glassell School of Art and artist; Kevin McNamee-Tweed, artist and curator at Big Medium; and Barbara Perea, Mexico City-based Independent Curator.

Artist statement:

[half pace,]

The marsh is still shifting, constant, compassionate. It hasn’t seen a disturbance like this since Camille and will need time to remember where everything was before the storm - nurse log goes over here, plover somewhere about there. The water settles reluctantly while the boys try to climb out.

[single pace, then another - careful now]

Flecks of sequin and broken glass mantle the surface, catching sunlight and leg hair.

Darling, I still feel terrible about what happened at the dinner party last weekend. Have you talked to Paul since? Wait, who gave you that fat lip? It happened in an act of passion, you say?

The cicadas must be in pain, the volume overhead is now dialed to a full scream. This can’t be common so late in September, can it? A hangover gets worse, their heads still crowded with impure thoughts and traces of ket.

[half pound, don’t worry bout it]

[Pansy’s Landing]

The air here is much heavier, and unforgiving. Dear God what did I just step on.
