Fernando Muñoz
Announcing Fernando Muñoz as Thirsty Planet Brewing Co.’s 2019 Brite Tank artist in partnership with Big Medium. Muñoz, a Chilean-born painter, poet, designer, and curator serving as studio resident at Canopy. Working directly with Thirsty Planet brewer, Tyrell Elliott, the two created Three Strangers Vienna Cerveza to create a concept beer based upon the artist’s work, as well as the packaging featured on 6-packs and bottles, available during Austin’s 2019 East Austin Studio Tour in November.
In addition to brewing, Fernando also created artwork for the packaging. A pattern-rich illustration of three heads in one, detailed by cityscapes, industry, organic forms, and three distinct eyes. This artwork will be featured on 6-packs and bottles, available during Austin’s East Austin Studio Tour in November - introducing the work of the artist, and efforts of Big Medium, to new communities.

"My art is a reflection on dreams and memories, creating surrealistic portraits full of lines, intricate patterns and objects that interact with each presenting to the viewer not only the subject but also a glimpse to what’s inside their minds. Often colorful, my art tends to have open interpretations."
Fernando Muñoz is a self-taught artist from Chile living in Austin, Texas since 2004. His work explores themes such as melancholy, dreams, and memories. Using intricate patterns and lines Fernando creates metaphorical and almost surreal portraits and landscapes.
