Kerrington Cai
Describe your artistic style in three words.
Compelling, tender, mischievous.
What's inspiring you right now?
I'm inspired by everyone building community here and around the world. Mutual aid efforts across Austin have especially made me appreciative to live hereI We have built a tenacious home here, and we have the ability to create and provide for so many of our neighbors.
What do you do when you're feeling uninspired?
I look at other people's work. I love to see what my photo friends have been working on like Jarod Lew, Madison Lloyd, Peyton Hatchett, Blake Nelson and so many more. It nourishes me to see my friends creating stories and narratives through their perspective of the world we live in. I also like to keep up with some contemporary photographers' work like Dylan Hausthor, Teva Cosic, LinZhipeng, Matthew Leifheit, and Riel Sturchio. I find that seeing others immerse themselves in their craft brings a warmth of creative energy and inspiration into me.
Tell us something unique about your process.
I refuse to go digital! I am die-hard analog film, darkroom chemistry, mechanical is best.
